Dear friend,
It was so lovely to hear from you after all this time. Your letter arrived on a rainy afternoon and brightened the whole day. I read it twice, once quickly and then slowly, savoring every word.
Things here are wonderful. The garden is blooming and the mornings smell of jasmine. I hope you will visit soon so we can sit outside and talk the way we used to.
